Make an Impact with Your Donor-Advised Fund

Give Smarter. Create Lasting Possibilities.

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, makes it easy to organize your charitable giving and support to causes that matter most to you. By recommending a grant to the UConn Foundation, you can put funds already dedicated to philanthropy to work for so much more — from scholarships and student experiences to groundbreaking research, academic excellence, health care, athletics, and more.

What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A DAF is a charitable giving account established with a sponsoring organization, such as a community foundation or financial institution. You contribute cash, securities, or other eligible assets to the account, and you may be eligible for a charitable tax deduction at the time of your contribution. You can then recommend grants to qualified nonprofit organizations, including the UConn Foundation, on a timeline that works for you.

Because your sponsoring organization manages administration, recordkeeping, and grant processing, a DAF can be a simple, flexible way to plan your philanthropy.

How Your DAF Gift Works

  1. Contribute. Add eligible assets to your donor-advised fund. Contributions are irrevocable and may qualify for a charitable tax deduction.
  1. Grow. Depending on your sponsoring organization, assets may be invested for potential tax-free growth, increasing what may be available for future charitable grants.
  1. Recommend. Request a grant to the UConn Foundation and choose the fund, school, college, campus, or program you would like to support.
